BASIC COVER EXPLAINED

Your possessions and computer equipment are insured against theft, loss or accidental damage. In the event of a claim items will be replaced as new, regardless of age or condition (except clothing, linen and rented household goods where a deduction is made for wear and tear).

You are covered within your accommodation, or any place of residence at which you are temporarily residing and in direct transit to and from your home address at the beginning and end of each term.

WHAT'S COVERED?

• Personal Possessions: For their full value subject to an item limit of £250.
• Desktop Computer Equipment: Subject to an Item limit of £1,000.
• Laptop & Portable Computers: Subject to an Item limit of £1,000.
• Cover in direct transit at the beginning and end of each university term.
• Cover in university designated storage during vacations – for theft from forcible entry.
• Landlord’s property – up to £5,000 for theft or damage.
• University property on loan – up to £150.
• Replacement locks & keys – up to £50, if your keys are stolen.
• Personal money – up to £50, for theft from your room following forcible entry.
• Credit/debit card fraud – up £500
• Hospitalisation through accident - £30 per night, up to 7 nights.
• Accidental death of a parent or guardian – up to £5,000.
• Assault & mugging benefit – up to £150.
• Broken & fractured bones benefit – up to £100.
• Personal Liability – up to £1,000,000 for injury to others or damage to their property.
• Food spoilage – up to £25, following mechanical failure of fridge/freezer.
• Damage to clothing – up to £100, for damage caused by faulty laundry equipment.

Important: If you require cover outside of your accommodation it is available as an optional extension to the basic cover.

WHAT IS NOT INSURED?

• Personal Possession the first £25 of any loss.
• Landlord’s property, laptop & portable computers: The first £100 of any claim.
• Theft from vehicles.
• Contact lenses.
• Pedal cycles, musical instruments and sports equipment (unless basic cover is extended).
• Sports equipment whilst in use.
• Cover outside of your accommodation (unless basic cover is extended).
• Mobile phones.

YOUR DUTY OF CARE

You must, at all times, take all reasonable steps to prevent accidents, loss and damage.

OPTIONAL EXTENSIONS | TOP UP COVERS

• Register your Laptop/portable computer for FREE up to £1,000 (In the event of a claim this will help speed up the claims process).
• You can increase the Personal Possessions Single Item Limit from £250 to either £500 or £1,000.
• Extend the Item Limit for Computer Equipment from £1,000 to £2,500.
• You can also extend the cover to include items anywhere within the UK (you may wish to consider this option if you own items such as laptops & portable computers, cameras, iPods, jewellery and other portable items).
• You can also extend cover of your personal possessions to include Sports or Musical Equipment (item limits apply).
• Add cover for a Pedal Cycle (accommodation only or anywhere in the UK)
• Legal Expenses
• Personal Accident (whilst participating in acceptable sports).
